Couple and mixed doubles Badminton England teammates, Marcus Ellis & Lauren Smith are a tour-de-force. The northern powerhouse have accrued numerious high-ranking medals and trophies during their respective careers. Ellis, Huddersfield, also doubles up with Chris Langridge, and the men’s pair won a historic bronze medal at the 2016 Rio Olympic Games. With over 480 career wins to his name, Marcus has been a national team member since 2008 and has been adding to his trophy cabinet ever since, securing a double gold at the 2019 European Games & the 2020 Denmark Open title, to name a few.
Smith, from Carlisle, also competes on the world circuit in the women’s doubles with Badminton England teammate Chloe Birch. Having made her Olympic Games debut in Rio in 2016, Lauren has continued to impress on the world stage. In 2018 she and Ellis won a stunning silver at the Commonwealth Games in mixed doubles, and in 2019, she secured the European Games mixed doubles Gold with Ellis and women’s Silver with Birch.

Badminton England will announce their Tokyo 2021 team by late May, so it’s all up for taking.
